The venue at Coventry is very large, most of the space is taken up with track area (not just the one needed for the meeting, but three large ones), one Astro, the next mainly dirt and the third a grass track. A large sign on the latter of these declares ‘No Rally X’, obviously this one is set aside for 10th. The layout for the meeting was large, with the back straight being quite a distance from the rostrum, it was plenty wide enough to makeup for this however. The grass was nice and short – it seems the club have a large resident population of rabbits to keep it that way, nice. |
The only grumble I could think of all weekend was that the ground is hard and stony under the surface – the track surface held up well but knocking in tent-pegs was a proper nightmare. Like the BRC 2 weeks before the 2wd meeting was dominated by Mark Stanley and Nick Goodall, but unlike the previous however it was Mark that came away with the honours in 2wd. In 4wd good performances from Lee Farrer and Chris Cocker were not enough to beat Mark who stamped his authority on the meeting with all the fastest times of the day. |
